There is lots to see in and around Nivati. The Sindhudurg fort in Malvan also a snorkeling site is the primary attraction in Malvan apart from the beaches. The adjoining taluka of Malvan, Devgad has the famous Kunkeshwar temple by the beach and the historic seafort Vijaydurg fort. To the south of Nivati is Vengurla rubbing shoulders with Goa with many more secluded beaches
1.Burnt Island:A bird watchers paradise Burnt island is one of the three main islands off the coast from Nivati. Burnt island is a traditional roosting and nesting site of the Indian Swiftlet, the Edible nest swiftlet and many more species of avians. The nests of Edible nest swiftlet is believed to have aphrodisiac properties in the Far East Asian countries. Boats are available from Nivati to Burn island.
2.Tarkarli beach boasts of the finest talcum powder sand to be found along the Konkan – this is not a travel writer’s cliche. The water is so clear that you can see the sea bed upto a depth of 15 ft or more. With a long coastline lined by ‘suru’ trees Tarkarli features as one of the most picturesque destination in the entire Konkan stretch. Notwithstanding the proximity to Goa, Tarkarli still is one of the most popular beaches in southern Konkan.
How to reach:
Nivati is well connected to the other parts of the state and is just about 20 Kms off the National Higway (NH 17). One needs to get off the NH 17 at Kudal from where Nivati is approximately 20 Kms. Nivati can be reached from Malvan also via the road connecting Malvan and Vengurla.
