Shiroda Beach
Shiroda Beach is situated at a distance of around 14 kmfrom the Vengurla village. The beach is renowned for the Salt Satyagraha started by Mahatma Gandhi. A division of protest was undertaken at the Shiroda Beach in order to support the movement.
The Sea shore being near, a variety of sea food is available at low prices. Specialties of the Konkan such as the Cashew crop or special mangoes, spices and even dried fish varieties can be purchased from these markets. The markets are crowded early morning but are comfortable to venture by around 1000hr when the locals have left the market after satisfying their needs.

Accomodation: Since it is primarily a town full of beaches, the maximum numbers of hotels are present by the beachside. You can get cottages by the beach for as low as Rs. 250 a night. The amenities provided are very basic, but the view you get is something remarkable.
Many other economy Vengurla hotels are also located close to the beach. Room rents here are slightly costlier if an ocean view room is required. Anything between Rs. 1200 to Rs. 2500 is considered a moderate price for these rooms.

By Air: Ratnagiri is the nearest airport located at a distance of 200 km from Vengurla. Ratnagiri Airport is connected to Mumbai and Pune by air. Taxi cabs fare is about Rs 3500 from airport to city center. Mumbai is the major International airport nearby. It is located nearly 535 km away from Vengurla. Mumbai is well connected to all major airports in India and many cities abroad.
By Train: Kolhapur railway station is the nearest railhead to Vengurla. Kolhapur railway station is linked to all cities in India through Mumbai terminal. Regular daily express trains ply between Kolhapur an d Mumbai.
By Road: Regular bus services are available from many cities in Maharashtra to Vengurla. State owned and private buses ply from Vengurla to many cities in and around. Evening trips of tourist luxury buses are available from Mumbai to Vengurla. The bus charge is about Rs 2000.
