Rohida Fort
Information:- The Rohida fort also popularly known as Vichitragad and Binicha killa is located to the south of Bhor in Pune. It is a Yadav Era fort built during the rule of Yadavas later this fort became a part of Shivaji Maharaja’s Swarajya. This historical fort conquered by the Moghuls in 1666, but could not hold it for long. It was again conquered by Shivaji Maharaj in 1670 from the Mughals.
There is not much structure available on the fort but is very famous in small trekking groups of Pune and Mumbai. You can see and capture Rohideshware temple, different styled bastions, Darwaja, water cisterns greenery in your camera.
This place is very famous in small trekking groups around Pune and Mumbai. Though the height of the fort is 1110 m, the trekking experience will be memorable. Most of the fort walls are ruined but the bastions are still intact. However, the Raireshwar trust/group is rebuilding and repairing the fort to restore the glory of this fort. They also distribute small books talking about the history of the fort to make people aware about the fort and the history of Maratha.
In your way to the top of fort, you will find many boards giving your some information about the fort. The space or area on the top is quite small. Around 6-7 water tanks are there on the top, but no water tank has drinkable water. Half an hour is more than enough to wander on the top and capture some good photos to keep this experience alive.
