Mahabaleshwar
Mahabaleshwar is also known as the Queen of all Hill Stations. This hill station is situated at an altitude of 1,372m in the heart of Sahyadri Hills in Satara District. Its name is derived from a Lord Mahadev temple and three Sanskrit words.Mahabaleshwar has proper, motorable roads to every point worth visiting. So one could tour the place by car, jeep, or even horseback. There are many buildings and sites that take one back to the days of the Raj. There’s Mount Malcolm, the one-time residence of Governor Malcolm; Moraji Castle, where Mahatma Gandhi lived during 1945; and the Mahabaleshwar Club.
How to Reach
By Road :- Mumbai – Mahabaleshwar Via Mahad – 247 km. State Transport Buses as well as Private Buses run regularly between Pune – Mahabaleshwar & Mumbai – Mahabaleshwar.
By Rail :- Near Railway Station is Wathar, but Pune is considered to be more convenient (Central Railway)
By Air :- Pune Airport – 120 km.

Pratapgad Fort

Rajpuri Caves, Panchgani
The Rajpuri Caves in Panchgani is a religiously important tourist spot. These ancient caves are surrounded by many water kunds (ponds). Devotees believe that taking bath in these holy kunds will provide relief from all kinds of diseases and evils.
Arthur’s Seat
Authur’s Seat is 1470 meters high. The queen of all points, Authur’s point got its name after Arthur Mallet as he was the first man to come here and build a house.
Babbington Point
Situated with in the precincts of Mahabaleshwar, Babington Point is a much desired hot spot of the tourists. This enchanting place is positioned at a height of 1294 meters above the sea level.
Bombay Point (Sunset Point)
The Mumbai Point is well known as the Sunset Point. People pack here to get a glimpse of the gray and orange skyscapes as the sun sets.
Carnac Point
Sir James Rivett Carnac was one of the few governors of British reign who had been prettily inspired by the pictorial beauty of Mahabaleshwar.
Chinaman’s Falls
The Chinaman’s Waterfall falls towards the south into the Koyana Valley. It is 2.5 km away from Mahabaleshwar.
Connaught Peak
Connaught Peak in the Old Mahabaleshwar Road is the second highest peak in Mahabaleshwar. This peak was formerly called as Mount Olympia.
Dhobi Waterfall
The Dhobi Waterfall is 3 km away from the town area. The fall is on the course which connects Lodwick point to Elphinstone Point.
Weather:
Mahabaleshwar has a moderate climate all through the year and can be visited any time of the year. However, the best time would be from October to June.
Winters (December to February) are cool and the temperature varies minimum 10°C to maximum 32°C. It is nice for wandering around the city and also for sightseeing.
Summers (March to June) are pleasant and temperature varies between a minimum of 15°C to a maximum of 35°C. It is very pleasant and ideal for sightseeing.
Monsoons (June to September) offer average annual rainfall. The place looks beautiful in rains.
