Panhala
Panhala is a city and a Hill station Municipal Council (3177 feet above sea level) 18 km northwest of Kolhapur, in Kolhapur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Panhala is the smallest city in Maharastra and being a Municipal Council the city is developing rapidly. The city sprawls in the Panhala fort commands a panoramic view of the valley below. The main historical attraction here is the Panhala fort. There are many places of interest, each with its share of haunting anecdotes.

Panhala Fort
One among the protected monuments, Panhala Fort, is considered as the largest of all the forts of Deccan. Situated in Kolhapur District of Maharashtra, this historically important site is constructed by King Raja Bhoj.
Sajja Kothi
Built in the year 1008 A. D., Sajja Kothi is located at Panhala, Maharashtra. Sajja Kothi is a three-storied building, and is a classic example of Mugal architecture. Sajja Kothi, literally means punishment and cell, might have witnessed the tragic end of so many people.
Teen Darwaza
Teen Darwaza, literally means three doors. Teen Darwaza is a mammoth entrance consists of three consecutive gates on the western walls, of the Panhala fort. It was through these gates, the British entered Panhala.

The Empress Botanical Gardens in Panhala and its large lawns, tall trees, cool shades and the quite calm ambiance makes this botanical garden a hot spot of the picnickers. The rambling gardens are well maintained by the forest department.

Jyotiba Temple
Jyotiba Temple is located at an altitude of 3124 ft above the sea level in the Panhala Range in Maharashtra. The temple is dedicated to Jyotiba (also Dattatreya), the incarnation of the divine trio.
Weather:
Panhala has a benign climate all through the year. During summers (March to May) maximum temperature never seen to exceed 28°C. Monsoons offer medium rainfall with an atmospheric temperature of 23°C on an average. Panhala winters are during the months November to February and have a very pleasant climate. The temperature lies around 10°C to 25°C during this period.
Deepavali (October) and Holi (February – March) are the festivals celebrated here with much color and gaiety.
Panhala can be visited all through the year.
