Mahatma Phule Museum
The museum contains sections that contain pictures, charts, models and machines and science models. The displays are related to industry and engineering, geology and minerals, handicrafts and cottage industries, agriculture, forestry, natural history and armoury. The armoury has weapons of the Moghul and Maratha period. There are charts that detail various forts in Pune district. The natural history section has a taxidermy collection of various species of animals, birds, insects, snakes and fishes. The industrial section has models of Indian hydro-electric and irrigation projects and oil refining methods that explain scientific agriculture.
Mahatma Phule Museum, established in 1875, is presently known as Mahatma Phule Vastu Sangrahalaya and is located in the heart of Pune. The exhibits in this museum include marble statues, brassware items, stone carvings and oil paintings. It also displays many other artifacts like textile and jewelry items, arms and armory, handicrafts, items related to geology, agriculture, forestry & natural history too.
The museum serves as a platform for information and knowledge exchange. It has a well-maintained library with rare collection of books from all walks of life. Occasional film shows and seminars conducted in this museum attract many knowledge enthusiasts.

How To Reach:
Railways are perhaps the most common means of transport for Pune from Mumbai. Daily local as well as express trains are available and take approximately 3-4 hours to reach Pune.
Regular buses too are available from Mumbai and charges around Rs 400 to 600 for AC Volvo. Tourists can also hire shared or private taxis for Pune, shared taxis charge approximately 1,200 per person, while private taxis can cost up 3,000 to 4,000 for a round trip.
