Catholic Church
Another beautiful evidence of the British rule in this area, the Holy Cross Church has lost much of its former glory. Yet, the church, also known as the “church in the hills”, continues to attract many visitors, owing to the fascinating stained-glass windows and the old world charm surrounding the church.
The building of the church now runs on donations, particularly the heavy maintenance that is required due to rains in the city. It belongs to one of the smallest parishes of the world, with just about 10 to 12 families, adding to the aura of a serene, quiet and small community. The church building itself, constructed in 1831, is quite small, owing to which it is fondly known as a “toy church”. Walk in here to enjoy some uninterrupted peace and quiet, away from the touristy crowds.
