Naygaon Mayur Wildlife Sanctuary
About:
Nayagaon Mayur Sanctuary also known as Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary was established as early as 18th century and houses almost 60% of the bird species of Mahrashtra.For an ornithologist, Nayagaon Mayur Sanctuary is a veritable heaven with a rapturous collection of tropical birds, migratory ones which comes here when winter snows cover up the peaks in the North.
Fauna:
Wolf, Fox, Hyena, Porcupine, Palm Civet, Jungle Cat, Pea fowls, Black hair are seen in much larger numbers all over the area.

Nearest Airport: Aurangabad (155 kms.). By Rail: Nearest railhead is Borsi (98 Kms.) By Road: From Beed the sanctuary is 20 kms on Beed-Nagar road.
Weather:
The summers temperatures can cross 400C. In winter, Melghat is cool with temperatures dropping below 150C! Between 1,000 to 2,250 mm. of rain falls during the monsoons. But the quantum received by different valleys varies because some of these fall in rain shadow belts

Accommodation:
Presently facilities for camping is not available with in sanctuary area. However the area is easily approachable from Beed, Paithan, Ahemadnagar, Osmanabad and Aurangabad.
